Women's History Month Briefs: Attend panels, enjoy trivia

Women’s History Month is already in full-spring on campus. The month of March is slated to encompass a wide range of events hosted by student organizations, university departments and committees and the Women’s Center. 

The theme for this year’s programming put on by the Women’s Center is #EmbraceEquity. The programming is set to take place throughout the entire month and is designed to uplift, educate and inspire women. 

Empower HER

This networking event took place this past Saturday, March 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Multicultural Center of Baker University Center, room 213.

The event featured keynote speaker Dwan Robinson, an associate professor of educational administration at Ohio University.

Robinson was hosted by the Women’s Center in collaboration with several student organizations: Woman to Woman, Ebony Minds, Unified Sisters, International Student Union, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Graduate Student Senate. Participants also received a complimentary t-shirt.

Women's History Month Discussion with Association of Women in Finance

This event featured speakers from J.P. Morgan and Nationwide to speak about the issues faced by women in finance.

This was an in-person event with networking and pizza from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Copeland Hall room 104 on March 6.

Embracing Equity: Black Women in Academia Panel

In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, the OU Pan-African Alumni Network and the Women’s Center are hosting a virtual panel to highlight the international perspectives of women in academia.

The panel will feature speakers working out of Ghana, Trinidad, the University of Pennsylvania and more. All panelists are Black women and many are alumni from OU.

This event will take place from 9:30 a.m to 10:30 a.m. Register here.

The Outlet: Supporting BIPOC Women

The Outlet is a student organization that hosts meetings twice monthly. On March 21 they will be hosting a discussion on supporting BIPOC women.

This event will take place in the Living Learning Center at noon.

Women’s History Month Wrap Up Trivia Night

To conclude the month, the Women’s Center will be hosting a trivia night in collaboration with the Division of Diversity and Inclusion.

This will be a night of friends, refreshments and learning in the Baker Fourth Floor Atrium on March 27 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
