Court Street is often recognized for having limited options when it comes to fast food, with many students relying heavily on chains such as Chipotle or Jimmy John's to keep their hunger contained. Luckily, there's a new sheriff in town that specializes in the ultimate comfort food: mac n cheese.
Keystone's Mac Shack, an extension of Keystone Bar & Grill based in Cincinnati, Ohio, is now open for business, so here's everything you need to know about Athens' newest food chain.
The Menu
There are currently eight options available for foodies to try on the Mac Shack's menu, including a vegetarian option. Lovin' Spoonful is the store's original mac n cheese recipe, while the B.B. King is mac n cheese mixed with pulled chicken, crumbled bacon and barbeque sauce. Black Sabbath is mac n cheese mixed with stout-braised brisket and mushrooms, and the Buffalo Springfield is mac n cheese with pulled chicken, crumbled bleu cheese and buffalo sauce.
Additionally, the Cordon Lightfoot is mac n cheese, slow-roasted ham, pulled chicken and Swiss cheese. Fleetwood Mac is a vegetarian mac n cheese mixed with pesto, diced tomatoes and shredded mozzarella. Meanwhile, Pink Floyd is mac n cheese with crumbled bacon and caramelized onions and Powerhouse is mac n cheese with buffalo chicken, stout-braised brisket and jalapenos topped with crumbled bleu cheese and Keystone chips.
Customers can add proteins such as chicken, brisket, bacon, ham or broccoli to their mac n cheese. People can also choose from a variety of mix-ins such as barbeque sauce, buffalo sauce, hot sauce or ranch. You can also top off your mac n cheese with options such as Nacho Cheese or Cool Ranch Doritos, Flamin' Hot Cheetos or breadcrumbs.
With certain options, you can also substitute the bleu cheese with a different kind if desired. Gluten-free mac n cheese is available as well for an additional $1.00.
Specials
On Mac Mondays, customers can get 50% off a large mac n cheese with the purchase of a beverage. This offer is available from open to close every Monday.
Every week, the store will feature a "Mac of the Week," "Topping of the Week" and "Pie of the Week." From Jan. 16 to Jan. 22, customers can get Guns N' Roses, which is mac n cheese with bacon, home fries, shredded cheddar, sour cream and chives. The topping of the week is sour cream and the pie of the week is Here Comes the Sun. The pie has a sugar cookie crust, raspberry jam and lemon whipped cream.
