Ohio (2-5, 0-0 Mid-American Conference) was coming off of two straight wins before taking on George Washington (5-4, 0-0 Atlantic 10) Friday. Ohio was facing its second straight team from the Atlantic 10 after it beat Dayton on Tuesday night. Unfortunately for Ohio, it wasn't as successful this time, losing 74-57.
Both teams got off to a fast start offensively as Ohio shot 50% in the first quarter, while George Washington shot 45% and hit one more three-pointer. Although Ohio outshot its opponent, it trailed 23-17 at the end of the first quarter.
The offensive production quickly declined for both teams in the second frame as they combined for only 26 total points, barely surpassing George Washington's first quarter total. The second quarter continued to be Ohio's downfall, as it is averaging just 13 points in that quarter over the past three games. This resulted in the Bobcats trailing 38-28 going into halftime.
The offensive struggles continued for the Bobcats, as they only scored 29 points in the second half. Sophomore Yaya Felder led the Bobcats offensively, scoring 20 points, and adding four rebounds and four assists. The only other Bobcat in double figures was redshirt senior Caitlyn Kroll, who put up 10 points and five rebounds.
One key difference in this game was second chance points, where George Washington outscored Ohio 14-2. George Washington took the lead from the start of this game and did not give it up.
Ohio finally returns home Tuesday, Dec. 13, to take on Cincinnati.
