Women's Basketball: Ohio loses second straight after 66-65 loss to Longwood

Ohio traveled to Farmville, Virginia, Thursday to take on Longwood. After its loss to Long Island Monday, Ohio needed a victory to get its first of the season. However, Ohio needed more time for the team to mesh, losing to Longwood 66-65.

Here is everything to know about the Bobcats second-straight loss:

Ohio started off strong in the first quarter, scoring 17 on 50% shooting from the field. This was much improved after it only scored seven points in the first quarter Monday. After the majority of its shots came from behind the three point line in its first game, Ohio took shots closer to the basket Thursday.

After a strong first quarter, the Bobcats struggled in the second quarter and were outscored 23-11. The Bobcats shot only 18% while the Lancers shot over 60%, ultimately giving them the lead before halftime.

The game continued to go back and forth as after a strong third quarter, Ohio took a 50-46 lead going into the fourth. However, Ohio shot just 33% to Longwood's 42% to get outscored 20-15 in the final frame. Ohio struggled from the 3-point line once again, as they shot just over 18% on the game.

Longwood gave Ohio a strong challenge, as the lead changed nine times throughout the game. Ohio returns to action next Thursday when it hosts a ranked Ohio State team.
