Men's Basketball: What to know about Cleveland State

After its loss to Belmont on Monday, Ohio needs to refresh. Ohio almost pulled off an impressive win with a last-minute shot by A.J. Clayton, but Belmont stole the show with a buzzer-beater of its own. Ohio will try to start anew with a game against Cleveland State in The Convo on Saturday.

Series history

Last November, The Bobcats defeated the Vikings 67-56. It came as no surprise, as the Bobcats are 5-0 against the Vikings since 2014. The Bobcats’ largest margin of victory was 101-46 in 2020, but they’ve also had small margins, such as a two-point win in 2014.

Cleveland State recently

Cleveland State also had a rocky start to the season. On Monday, it lost to Notre Dame College 72-68. The slip up could be equated to the fact that Cleveland State has an entirely new coaching staff, or the fact that Notre Dame outscored Cleveland State in both halves.

Like the Bobcats, the Vikings have subpar 3-point shooting. The Vikings were 4-for-17 from beyond the arc on Monday. Either team could change the course of the game if they improve their shooting.
