As week thirteen begins, Bobcats are pushing through colder weather and getting closer to Thanksgiving break. With that said, listening to new tunes throughout the week and weekend is always essential. This past week, BROCKHAMPTON, P!nk and others have dropped new music.
While everyone has their favorite genre of music, we’ve made a playlist that will appeal to any mood or preference. Below are new songs that are perfect for walking to class, working out at the gym, sitting around in your dorm or cranking out those last-minute papers. Here are 5 new songs to get you through the week:
“Big Pu**y” by BROCKHAMPTON
BROCKHAMPTON, the LA-based hip-hop group at the beginning of this year announced an “indefinite hiatus.” In that announcement, the group said its two sets at Coachella would be their last live shows. At Coachella, they announced the release of a final album. That LP is called “The Family,” and its first single was released titled, “Big Pu**y.'' In the sheer chaos that “Big Pu**y” is, it keeps up in the verbal attack on vocals with an energetic beat that changes from jazz samples to monster bass lines and looped acoustic rolls.“The Family” is out on Nov.18
“Never Let You Go” by Jason Derulo, Shouse
Have you been on the look for some nostalgia lately? Well, Jason Derulo, who you may know from your childhood with songs such as “Whatcha Say” and “Talk Dirty,” returns with much of the same but with an EDM twist, teaming up with Australian-New Zealand DJ Duo Shouse, introducing synth-heavy house rhythms that compliment Derulo’s voice well. “Let this one play loud when you’ve got to dance yourself clean of a heartbreak or are just looking to let loose from Friday to Sunday,” Shouse wrote.
“I’m a Mess“ by Avril Lavigne, YUNGBLUD
Avril Lavigne has been returning to music more often, with her new single "I'm a Mess" featuring Britain's favorite misfit, YUNGBLUD. Channeling some of the same energy and ability of heartfelt and evocative ballads, Lavigne and YUNGBLUD give this subtle throwback to the beloved 2002 hit "I'm With You," In the music video for "I'm A Mess," Lavigne skateboards near the oceanside Los Angeles, which is juxtaposed with dark and dreary shots of YUNGBLUD walking through London on a rainy day you can watch the video here.
“Never Gonna Not Dance Again” by P!nk
P!nk, the singer/songwriter of many hit songs from our childhood and beyond, returns with her legendary stage presence on her single, “Never Gonna Not Dance Again.” A hopeful followup to “irrelevant” featured a direct, pointed response to the Roe v. Wade decision last June. The 43-year-old performer declares, “you could take all that I got” and “everything I love,” but you can’t break her spirit. As she skates down the aisles of a grocery store in the music video, while she may not have her dancing shoes, she has her roller skates and will dance down the corridors in free spirit. You can watch the music video here.
“CYAN1DE” by nothing.nowhere., Pete Wentz
Joseph Mulherin, best known by his stage name nothing. nowhere., the rap-rocker, is known for songs such as “deathwish” and “hammer,” links up with Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz. “CYAN1DE” rounds out the set of singles that Mulherin released over the past year, such as “Sledgehammer” and “M1SERY_SYNDROME”. In a press release for the song, Mulherin said that he’s “proud of this song,” and “couldn’t be more excited for the future of nothing, nowhere. Wentz agrees with that sentiment saying it brings him back to “the first heavy music I (Wentz) got into and the bands I would scrawl on my trapper keeper at school.”
