Bobcats for Ukraine is hosting a book drive and community art event for Ukrainian child refugees this Saturday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Bobcats for Ukraine is a local group who works to help Ukrainians, including organizing housing for refugees and donating supplies.
The event will take place in the alley next to the Athens Public Library, located at 30 Home St. The alley location will provide a canvas for chalk art, which will be drawn to promote peace in Ukraine. Participants are asked to bring a $10 donation along with items like puzzles, board games, coloring books and English books for ages seven through 17.
The $10 participation donation will be used for necessary classroom technology, such as projectors. Athens community members are invited to help spread messages of peace through art that uplifts and supports refugee school children.
