Ben Vander Plas, one of Ohio's keystone starters, has entered the transfer portal.
The news of Vander Plas' entry into the transfer portal was broken Monday evening by Stadium insider Jeff Goodman. The redshirt senior averaged 14.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game this season and garnered All-Mid-American Conference First Team honors. He has one more year of eligibility remaining.
The forward's absence will be difficult for Ohio to fill. Vander Plas has started the past three seasons under coach Jeff Boals and has been one of Ohio's consistent offensive powerhouses. He helped Ohio cruise to a MAC title last season and played a crucial role in its upset of Virginia in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
Ohio has another player, Colin Granger, in the transfer portal at this time.
