The Athens City-County Health Department reported a new coronavirus-related death Wednesday, bringing the death toll to 131.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention community level of spread for Athens County is low, which means individuals should stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations and be tested for the virus if they experience symptoms.
The department also recorded 13 new cases Wednesday. There are now 274 active cases in the county.
About 53% of Athens County residents have started the COVID-19 vaccination process, and 49.64% have completed their vaccine. Over 17,000 additional doses have also been administered in the county.
