Here's 5 things to do for Siblings Weekend

Just like Dad’s Weekend or Mom’s Weekend, another fun and great event is happening at the university: Siblings Weekend. Although guests are currently not permitted in the dorms due to COVID-19, that doesn’t mean you still can’t have your siblings visit and see all that Ohio University has to offer.

Stuck on what to do with them? We’ve curated a couple of ideas to give your sibling that Athens energy. Here’s five things to do with your sibling this weekend:

Visit Donkey Coffee

One of the heart and soul spots of Athens, Donkey is a must for anyone coming to OU. There’s a wide variety of drinks and pastries, and there’s quite a few comfy seating options for you to catch up with your sibling. Also try the limited--time “Cup of Joe,” inspired by Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.

Have a meal at Bagel Street Deli

Another staple food place that gives the true college and Athens experience. Bagel Street has options for everyone from meat lovers to vegetarians alike. We recommend: Morning After, Kim’s Kraving and Tofubien. Take a moment to also write your names on the wall and remember the special weekend, too.

Go sledding

With the incoming snow storm, take the opportunity to do a classic winter activity and go sledding down some of the many hills on campus. Though Jeff Hill may not be the move, the hills by Gordy Hall and Putnam Hall are great alternatives. Just remember to stay safe!

Take them ice skating

If your sibling is coming either Saturday or Sunday, there’s open skating at Bird Ice Arena. It only costs $5 for students and minors as well as $6 for everyone else to rent skates. Saturday hours are 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Sunday hours are 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Show them your classes and campus

Have some Bobcat pride by showing off your school and gorgeous campus. Give them a tour by taking them to Baker University Center, the dining halls and all the buildings you have classes. Tell them stories and memories and keep them connected on your life here at OU.
