Hockey: Ohio prepares for final regular season series against Illinois

After six months of hard work and play, Ohio’s regular season is coming to a close.

Ohio will play its last series of the regular season at Central States Collegiate Hockey League opponent Illinois. This series is important for Ohio, who hasn’t won a game since Jan. 22. A series sweep at Illinois would boost morale going into the playoffs.

Victory was snatched from Ohio’s hands Saturday after losing 4-3 to Liberty in a shootout at home. However, Illinois is coming off two big wins vs. Roosevelt.

Series Information

Opponent: Illinois (18-14-1)

Location: The Pond (Champaign, Illinois)

Series Dates: Feb. 17-18 at 7 p.m. CST

Series History

When Ohio and Illinois faced off earlier this season at Bird Arena, Ohio won the first game of the series 5-3. The win was relatively normal but the next game was not. The second game of the series only lasted two periods, before it was called off because of an OLYMPIA malfunction that made the ice unsafe for the players to skate on.

When the game was called, Ohio was losing 4-1. At the time, the game was not finalized. However, the game has since been ruled a loss for Ohio.
