A look at the weekend:
The high pressure that has dominated the Athens area for most of the week will move out by Saturday night as a disturbance impacts the eastern U.S. The area will see highs in the 30s and lows in the teens for the whole weekend with mostly cloudy skies. There’s still a lot of uncertainty with that system, however. There is a decent chance for some snow during the weekend. Depending on several different moving parts of the storm, Athens could see anywhere from no snow to several inches throughout Sunday and into Monday. There will be more certainty about the storm in the coming days, expect updates as the storm's passage nears.
Coming up next week:
Following the system's passage, the Athens area will fall back into a calm winter pattern. Expect highs around 30 and lows in the teens, even dropping into the single digits a few times. It will be mostly cloudy for most of the week, but dry and calm.
