A look at the weekend:
Following the active pattern we’ve seen this week, this weekend looks to be rather calm. High pressure will begin to build into the area Friday, which will clear out clouds and maintain dry conditions. That clearing will allow the heat at the surface to escape, causing temperatures to plummet down into the single digits Friday night. It is unlikely that the high temperatures will get above freezing all weekend, but the lows will gradually increase into the teens.
Coming up next week:
The calm and cold conditions will continue throughout most of the week, with highs barely reaching above freezing and lows in the teens. Several weak systems will come out of Canada and could allow for a few flurries early in the week. This snowfall will not amount to much and will have minimal impacts across the region. By midweek, the Athens area will dry out, but remain very chilly.
