Series History
The Bobcats last defeated the Chippewas 93-84 on Jan. 16, 2021 inside McGuirk Arena — almost a year to the date of Saturday’s game. It was the Bobcats’ first win against the Chippewas since the 2018-19 season.
There is a history of close games between the two teams. Four of their last five matchups have been decided by three or fewer points. On that same note, Ohio’s smallest margin of victory since 2011 is only two points.
The Chippewas historically have the upper hand. They have won eight of the last 10 matchups and have dominated the series over the past decade. It will be a challenge for the Bobcats to defeat the Chippewas on their own court.
Ohio player to watch
Cece Hooks — Hooks is 11 points away from breaking Ohio’s all-time scoring record. The guard is an apt shooter, but she had trouble at the free throw line in Ohio’s game against Kent State on Wednesday. However, she was still able to tally a season-high 26 points. Hooks will likely face no trouble breaking the program scoring record against the Chippewas.
