The Athens City-County Health Department reported a new COVID-19 death on Monday, which occurred sometime between Dec. 17 and 19.
The total death count is 100, and the county has nearly 400 active cases of the coronavirus.
Over half of the Athens County population has started the vaccination process, and over 31,000 individuals have completed vaccination. About 12,400 individuals have received additional doses, such as booster shots.
