On Monday, the Athens City-County Health Department reported three new COVID-19 related deaths as of Saturday, bringing the total to 79 deaths in the county.
Athens County remains in the red risk level category of the Ohio Public Health Advisory System, meaning there are very high levels of COVID-19 exposure and spread.
The department also reported that there are currently 390 active cases with 15 new cases as of Sunday. That is a drop from the 441 active cases Oct. 19.
The percentage of Athens residents who have started the vaccination process and those who have completed the process have increased since Oct. 19, with 48.27% of residents beginning their vaccinations and 45.32% having completed the process in the county.
