Ohio University Student Senate met Wednesday evening to appoint several new members and discuss member reports.
The body approved the appointment of new members to the positions of environmental affairs commissioner, director of veteran’s affairs, Black affairs commissioner and assistant chief of staff. The resolution to appoint a residence life senator was tabled indefinitely.
The meeting concluded with member reports regarding various council activities.
Senate President Becky “Eliza” Ivan encouraged everyone to continue to wear masks and get vaccinated to help protect the health and safety of the community.
Several senators urged attendees to apply for Senate positions and spread the word to individuals who are potentially interested in joining. The deadline for appointed position applications is Sept. 30th and all other applications close Oct. 7.
“If you’re passionate about something, if your friends are passionate about something, tell them to apply and we can really make a difference at OU,” Treasurer Simar Kalkat said.
