Another COVID-19 death was reported for Athens County on Tuesday, bringing the death toll in the county to 61.
An Athens County male in the 40-49 age range was confirmed dead Aug. 29, Jack Pepper, an administrator at the Athens City-County Health Department, said.
The last COVID-19 death reported was an individual in the 70-79 age range and was confirmed May 28, according to a previous Post report.
Athens County is in the “red” alert level with 379 confirmed cases, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC, website.
Currently, 28,694 Athens residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 27,944 are fully vaccinated, according to the CDC’s website.
