Today is Wednesday, April 14. Here’s what you need to know:
Good morning,
The annual awards season has looked entirely different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the most anticipated red carpet event of the year is back.
On Monday, the Met Gala announced it will return twice in quick succession between 2021 and 2022.
Although the event usually takes place on the first Monday of May, the executive fundraiser will now be held Sept. 18, 2021, and May 5, 2022. Part one, “In America: In Lexicon of Fashion,” is described to be a “modern vocabulary of American fashion.” Part two, “In America: In Anthology of Fashion,” will include a historical perspective, dating back to 1670.
The theme will celebrate American designers as well as political, social and cultural events that have occurred during the pandemic.
A host has not yet been announced. A smaller red carpet is to be expected.
