Heading into the top of the seventh inning down 5-1, Ohio looked like it was on its way to being swept by Radford during the two teams’ three-game season opening series this weekend. The Bobcats already were defeated by the Highlanders 7-3 on Friday and 4-2 Saturday and needed something huge to get back into the game.
The Bobcats would go on to rally in the seventh, scoring five runs and holding on for its first win of the season beating Radford 7-5 Sunday at Williams Field.
The win gives Ohio (1-2) its first of the season and of the Craig Moore era.
Senior right-handed pitcher Edward Kutt IV earned the first win of the year. After giving up two earned runs in the fifth, Kutt IV finished the game with five strikeouts.
Despite only winning one out of three this weekend, Ohio baseball still has the potential for great moments this season. Ohio returns to action on Friday, Feb. 26 for its home opener. The Bobcats will play Morehead State in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
