An additional COVID-19 death was reported in Athens County on Saturday, bringing the countywide total to 11.
A man in the 80+ age range was confirmed dead, according to data from the Ohio Department of Health. The report marks the third death of someone 80 or older in Athens County due to COVID-19.
Of the previous deaths, four were in the 70-79 age range, three were in the 60-69 age range and one was in the 50-59 age range.
The last COVID-19 death was confirmed Feb. 3, according to a previous Post report. That death was a man in his 70s who died Jan. 30.
There are currently 4,215 total cases of COVID-19 in Athens County. Of those cases, 572 are active.
