OU point guard Jason Preston goes viral over the weekend; Athens County has over 2,000 COVID-19 cases

Today is Monday, Nov. 30, 2020. Here’s what you need to know:

Good morning, 

Ohio University point guard Jason Preston scored 31 points for the Bobcats during their Friday night game against Illinois. During the game, Preston’s inspiring backstory was highlighted by ESPN broadcasters. The story later went viral on social media. 

After his mother’s death five years ago, Preston lived with his mom’s best friend’s son in Orlando, Florida. While attending Believe Sports Academy, he found success on the C-level basketball team. From there, he made a highlight reel, posted it on Twitter and received a scholarship offer from OU. 

Preston found success on the Bobcat basketball team. In 2018-19 he was on the All-Mid-American Conference Freshman Team. The next season, Preston was on the All-MAC Second Team. Hear more about his backstory here.
