The Battle of the Bricks, the storied rivalry game between Ohio and Miami is canceled.
The game was called off due to roster issues with the Bobcats. “... related to positive COVID-19 tests and subsequent contact tracing. The game has been declared a no contest,“ the Mid-American Conference said in a release Sunday afternoon.
This will mark the first year without a meeting between the two schools since 1944.
Ohio coach Frank Solich is being faced with something unprecedented. For weeks, he’s seen programs become affected by the coronavirus.
“It’s a day by day thing obviously with the virus,“ Solich said on Friday. “Our guys are handling it very very well. But you know then it’s possible to have a player pop up positive that you’re seeing around the country.”
