The Ohio field hockey team announced Tuesday its 14-game schedule featuring 12 regular-season games against MAC opponents. The other two games will be against future MAC opponent Bellarmine University. The Bobcats play eight games at home this season while the other six will be played on the road.
This season is unlike the previous seasons because the top finisher of the MAC regular season will automatically receive a bid to the NCAA Tournament. All games this season will be played in a double round-robin format, meaning each team will play the same opponent twice in the same weekend at one location. The schedule is designated to be Friday and Saturday games only, with the playing times announced at a later date.
Ohio begins its season away at Miami on March 12-13 and will stay on the road the following week, traveling to Ball State on March 19-20. The Bobcats return to Pruitt Field to host their home opener against Central Michigan on March 26-27. The team hosts Appalachian State the following week on April 2-3.
April 9-10 has the Bobcats away once again, making the trip to Longwood for a quick series before closing off the season at home. Ohio hosts Kent State on April 16-17 as their last MAC opponent for the season, ultimately finishing the regular season with two matches against Bellarmine on April 23-24.
