Bulldogs wide receiver Nate Trainer (No. 8) catches the ball and faces off Nelsonville-York's WR Austin Thrapp (No. 1) in a home game hosted by Athens High School on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019.

High School Football: Nelsonville-York prepares for rivalry game

Nelsonville-York (3-2) is looking to finish its season with a winning record and four-game win streak. The Buckeyes will have to go through rival Athens (2-2) to do that.

The biggest concern for Nelsonville-York is to stop the Bulldogs’ quarterback Joey Moore. Moore is one of the best quarterbacks in the TVC who can hurt defenses by passing or running the ball.

The Buckeyes will be looking for a big boost from senior defensive lineman Christian Wiseman, who is a game-time decision to play after a foot injury against Vinton County.

This season finale won’t matter in terms of playoffs since the playoff brackets are already set. Nelsonville-York has already secured a bye and will play the winner of Southeastern and Symmes Valley at home on Oct. 17.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
