Ohio University learned Monday that a caregiver in a preschool class tested positive for COVID-19 at the Child Development Center, causing all activities to be suspended until Sept. 18.
Parents and families were immediately notified, and both preschool classrooms were immediately closed, according to a news release from OU.
The Athens City-County Health Department recommended the university suspend all child care activities for two weeks.
The center plans to reopen Sept. 21, pending any more COVID-19 reports.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and appreciate our families’ patience and understanding as we navigate this unusual time,” Lisa Frasure, Child Development Center director, said in the release.
