There were 24 new coronavirus cases confirmed in Athens County last week as the county moved to level 2.
There are a total of 419 cases in the county as of Sept. 5, according to the Ohio Department of Health. There was one new hospitalization — a person in their 80s — bringing the total to 23. There were no additional deaths reported.
This is the largest number of cases reported in the county within a week since mid-July.
People under the age of 30 still make up about 75% of cases in Athens County. This compares to about 32% of people under 30 in the state.
The county was moved to level 2 on the state’s advisory system Thursday.
