Good morning,
TikTok has been Gen Z’s go-to app for entertainment over the past year or so, but YouTube may be shaking things up.
Per a report from The Verge, YouTube is working on a TikTok competitor called Shorts. The YouTube feature will allow users to upload short clips to a feed within the app. The feature will also include all of YouTube’s licensed music catalog for users to select from.
The move from YouTube comes after TikTok experienced a 125% increase in growth over the past two years, per a January 2020 report from App Annie. Having the same mindset as YouTube, Facebook is also currently testing a feature in Brazil similar to TikTok called Lasso.
