After last week’s episode of How to Get Away with Murder revealed the FBI was behind Asher’s (Matt McGorry) murder, Gabriel (Rome Flynn) approached the others and told them. Connor (Jack Falahee) and Michaela (Aja Naomi King) were skeptical, but Oliver (Conrad Ricamora) thought he might be telling the truth.
Gabriel’s mother also re-appeared, telling Annalise (Viola Davis) to protect Gabriel in exchange for information. Annalise agreed, and Gabriel’s mother disclosed that the FBI killed Asher, but Annalise’s sister-in-law was behind the war. Why? The ominous answer from Gabriel’s mother was: “what happened with her and Sam.”
Annalise also learned the prosecution against her is seeking the death penalty in Asher’s murder. Michaela and Connor discovered this from their lawyers and immediately went to Annalise. There, they told Annalise they were the informants, but they only did so because the FBI threatened them with Asher’s murder and forced their confession.
Annalise secretly recorded this and played it in her hearing, allowing the death penalty to be removed from the case. However, the FBI agents showed up at Connor and Michaela’s house following Annalise’s recording and asked if they needed to be arrested.
Meanwhile, Frank (Charlie Weber) found the FBI working with Xavier. Frank quickly tied Xavier up and exacted the same torture upon him as Xavier previously did to Frank. Xavier revealed Agent Pollack is the only FBI agent working for their family. When Annalise knew Frank had Xavier, she went to Nate (Billy Brown) and convinced him to testify for her in exchange to meet his father’s murderer.
Xavier told Nate that Gov. Birkhead was behind the hit on his father to bury Annalise. However, just as Nate is about to leave, Xavier said his father was behind the hit. Enraged, Nate killed Xavier, ruining the chance of him appearing in court and helping them.
As things heat up, it seems murder is ever-present with this group.
