Walmart reopened after bomb threat causes evacuation

A bomb threat was reported to the Athens Police Department on Tuesday evening at Walmart on State Street.

There are no known risks to the public. The store is open again and a search of the building was completed.

Walmart, 929 E State St., was evacuated and was searched with bomb-sniffing dogs from the Ohio University Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshall’s Office, according to an APD news release.

There have been no injuries as a result of this, according to an APD news release.

APD got the call about the threat at about 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The case is still being investigated, according to an APD news release.
