The man who was arrested for masturbating on the fifth floor of Alden Library was found guilty Thursday for public indecency.
The Ohio University Police Department arrested James Robert Crumby III, 21, on a charge of public indecency and engaging in a sexual act on Sunday, according to an OUPD report.
Crumby, who does not have to register as a sex offender, has to pay $110 for a filing fee as well as a $500 fine if he violates his probation. If he doesn’t violate his probation, he will only have to pay a $100 fine on top of the filing fee.
If Crumby violates his probation, he will also have to spend 60 days in jail.
His probation includes not violating any laws for two years and abiding by all recommendations from mental health agencies.
Crumby is not permitted to have any contact with Ohio University or the victim. He must also write an apology letter to the victim, which will be delivered to the prosecutor’s office, according to the court docket.
