Motorola is reintroducing the Razr as a foldable smartphone; Marching 110 to perform at MemAud for annual varsity show

Today is Friday, Nov. 15, 2019 Here’s what you need to know:

Good morning,

Motorola is bringing back the early 2000s with the reintroduction of its classic flip phone: the Razr.

This time around, the iconic phone will have a modern twist as a foldable smartphone. The 2019 Razr will replace the T9 keypad and small LCD with a 6.2-inch foldable plastic OLED panel with the Android 9 Pie operating system. Users will have the satisfaction of folding the phone like the classic 2004 Razr, and ability to unfold into a touchscreen smartphone for futuristic edge.

Motorola announced the reboot Wednesday, and it will be able January 2020 with a price tag of $1,500. The 2004 predecessor will cash in on nostalgia as a modern-throwback, but comes with concerns regarding the folding display. Samsung introduced the Galaxy Fold in September 2019 and received a number of reviews encounting hardware problems with the folding screen. However, Motorola is proud of its updated phone hinge and calling it an “industry first, patent protected zero-gap hinge.”
