Nine men indicted after investigation of Collin Wiant’s death

Nine men were indicted by an Athens Grand Jury on Monday related to hazing activities by members of the Sigma Pi Fraternity chapter at Ohio University during Fall Semester 2018.

Collin Wiant, 18, of Dublin, died at 45 Mill Street, a Sigma Pi annex house on Nov. 12, 2018. In February 2019, the Athens County Coroner autopsy report confirmed he died from asphyxiation due to nitrous oxide ingestion.

After an investigation, the following individuals will be indicted for Wiant’s death:

  • Joshua Androsac, 20, of Lewis Center, will be charged with permitting drug abuse, a fifth-degree felony; hazing, fourth-degree misdemeanor; involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony; two counts of trafficking harmful intoxicants, a fifth-degree felony; and trafficking in cocaine, a fifth-degree felony. He was enrolled at OU from fall 2018 to fall 2019 and is not currently enrolled. 
  • Saxon Angell-Perez, of Columbus, will be charged permitting drug abuse, a fifth-degree felony; hazing, fourth-degree misdemeanor; and trafficking in cocaine, a fifth-degree felony. Angell-Perez currently enrolled at OU and has been a student since fall 2016. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday for arraignment. 
  • Dominic Figliola, of Athens, will be charged with permitting drug abuse, a fifth degree felony; hazing, fourth degree misdemeanor; aggravated trafficking in drugs, a felony of the fourth degree; and failure to comply with underage alcohol laws, an unclassified misdemeanor. He was enrolled at OU from fall 2016 to spring 2019 and is not currently enrolled. 
  • Corbin Gustafson, 22, will be charged with reckless homicide, a felony of the third degree. He was enrolled at OU form fall 2017 to fall 2018 and is currently not enrolled. 
  • Zachary Herskovitz, 22, of Coraopolis, PA, will be charged permitting drug abuse, a fifth-degree felony, and hazing, fourth-degree misdemeanor. He was enrolled at OU from fall 2016 to spring 2019 and is currently not enrolled. 
  • Cullen McLaughlin, 20, will be charged with two counts of trafficking in LSD, a fifth-degree felony. He is currently enrolled at OU since fall 2017. 
  • Elijah Wahib, 22, of Westlake, will be charged with tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony; permitting drug abuse, a fifth-degree felony, and hazing, fourth-degree misdemeanor; assault, a first-degree misdemeanor; obstructing justice, a fifth-degree felony; and failure to comply with underage alcohol laws, an unclassified misdemeanor. He was enrolled at OU from fall 2016 to spring 2019 and is not currently enrolled. Wahib is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday for arraignment. 
  • James Wanke, 25, who owns Silver Serpent, will be charged with involuntary manslaughter, a first degree felony, two counts of trafficking in harmful intoxicants, fifth-degree felony; involuntary manslaughter, a third-degree felony and improperly dispensing or distributing nitrous oxide, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. He was enrolled at OU from spring 2015 to spring 2016 and is currently not enrolled. Wanke will appear for arraignment on Wednesday. 
  • Stephan Lewis, 27, will be charged with trafficking in harmful intoxicants, a fifth-degree felony, and improperly dispensing or distributing nitrous oxide, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. Lewis appeared before a magistrate on Tuesday. The university did not have a record for him. Lewis was released on his own recognizance and scheduled a jury trial for Dec. 21. 

The individuals will appear before Court of Common Pleas for arraignment. Anyone who has not appeared or made arrangements to appear will have nationwide arrest warrants issued.
