Ohio University has now received reports alleging hazing by members of nine different fraternities.
The university suspended all Interfraternity Council chapters on Thursday after receiving allegations of hazing from seven fraternities.
The Ohio University Police Department has reviewed initial allegations of eight organizations, but none of the allegations have “risen to the level of actionable criminal activity,” Carly Leatherwood, a university spokeswoman, said in an email.
The fraternity chapters that have received administrative investigations by OU include ACACIA, Alpha Epsilon Pi, Beta Theta Pi, Delta Tau Delta, Lambda Chi Alpha, Phi Kappa Psi, Sigma Chi and Theta Chi.
Law enforcement is reviewing allegations related the ninth fraternity Interfraternity Council, or IFC, chapter. The university will release the name of the fraternity when it is available.
Leatherwood said in an email that details of the allegations will not be disclosed to protect the integrity of the university’s investigation.
OUPD regularly coordinates with university investigations. If additional information emerges to suggest a crime, OUPD will get involved.
