Cross Country: Ohio looking forward to Louisville Cross Country Classic

Ohio continued its strong start to the season last weekend with a solid outing at the All-Ohio Championships in Cedarville. The men’s and women's teams finished in sixth and fourth, respectively.

The team looks to build on to that success this weekend when it heads to Louisville, Kentucky, to compete in the Louisville Cross Country Classic on Oct. 5.

Redshirt senior Madison Sury has been excellent for Ohio this season. She won Mid-American Conference Female Co-Athlete of the week on Sept. 17 and finished seventh overall in the team’s last meet.

“As meets go on, the competition gets tougher,“ Sury said. “The next three meets are going to be the most competitive races we’ve raced at, so I have to practice that racing mindset and strategy and I am no longer just racing against myself. I have to latch on to some of these top girls.”

Ohio’s next meet will be among its toughest this season. The Bobcats will run against MAC opponents in Ball State and Bowling Green, and schools in the Southeastern Conference in Kentucky, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt.

The women’s team will start action in the 5K race Saturday at 10:15 a.m. while the men’s team will compete in the 8K race at 9:30 a.m.
