After starting out the season 0-3, Athens is slowly turning things around. The Bulldogs defeated rival Alexander 28-6. The following week they defeated Vinton County in a 33-28 thriller.
Athens (2-3, 2-0) looks to carry that momentum into its week six non-conference matchup this Friday, as it hosts Logan (1-4).

- Last season, Athens defeated Logan 21-14 for the first time in 28 years.
-Athens DT Isaiah Butcher did not play in last week’s matchup against Vinton County for an undisclosed reason. In a game that came down to the final seconds on the Athens three-yard line, the Bulldogs were clearly affected by the absence of Butcher. Coach Nathan White gave no timetable for Butcher’s return.
-Athens has lost all games against nonconference opponents this season.
-Logan has struggled on offense this season, averaging just 9.2 points scored per game. Its defense has done a respectable job so far, only allowing 18.8 points per game on average.
