Following their double overtime victory over Cleveland State on Friday, the Bobcats made sure they finished Sunday’s match in regulation.
Ohio’s (4-0) undefeated season stayed intact after it traveled to Huntington, West Virginia, and defeated Marshall (1-3) by a score of 4-1.
The offense showed up in a big way and recorded 18 shots. Freshman Olivia Darrow put the Bobcats on the board first and scored her first career goal in the 27th minute. She finished with two goals in the match.
Sarina Dirrig, one of the offensive stars from last season, also scored her first goal of the season after she received a pass from Abby Townsend and fired the ball into the net in the 63rd minute.
Defensively, Ohio continues to clamp teams and make it extremely difficult for opponents to get any clean looks. Marshall only had six shots, the least Ohio has allowed this season.
The goal by Marah Abu-Tayeh in the 57th minute was just the third goal allowed by the Bobcats in only four matches this season.
Goalkeeper Sydney Malham also returned for the Bobcats. She missed the second half against Northern Kentucky and the match against Cleveland State due to injury.
Ohio will look to extend its winning streak to five matches when it returns to action on Sept. 8 to take on Southern Illinois (3-2) in Athens. First touch from Chessa Field is scheduled for 1 p.m.
