The Athens Police Department received a SANE kit from OhioHealth O'Bleness hospital Tuesday morning for a rape that reportedly happened Sunday on Mill Street.
The nurse who gave the SANE kit to APD said the woman wanted to remain anonymous, according to the APD report. A SANE is a sexual assault nurse examiner, which is a nurse that is able to give a forensic tests provide care to sexual assault victims.
This is the third rape report APD has received this school year. OUPD has also received one rape report. APD has also received one sexual battery report and one voyeurism report. OUPD has received one sexual assault report.
