Today is Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2019. Here’s what you need to know:
Good morning,
KFC seems to be taking after Burger King, and the burger chain’s Impossible Whopper.
The fried chicken restaurant is set to test chicken made with Beyond Meat at an Atlanta location, according to CNN. As part of the collaboration, the companies will offer “Beyond Fried Chicken” near the Atlanta Braves’ SunTrust Park.
Beyond Meat’s plant-based chicken product follows the company’s burger, ground beef, sausage and other alternative. KFC will offer Beyond Meat alternatives as nuggets or boneless wings in six of 12-piece combo meals. The wings are $1 each and the nuggets are $6.49 for six and $8.49 for 12.
Other than KFC, many other fast-food chains and eateries have adopted plant-based alternatives. Burger King’s Impossible Whopper is a hit across the U.S., and Tim Hortons and Dunkin’ Donuts are currently testing Beyond Meat alternatives.
