The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium announced June 20 that Ohio University Board of Trustees vice chair Janelle N. Coleman will serve as the zoo’s new executive vice president of external affairs.
Coleman will be responsible for overseeing the zoo’s philanthropy, community relations and marketing and sales departments, according to a news release from the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.
Coleman, who will begin at the zoo August 12, will continue to serve as vice chair of the OU Board of Trustees until 2022, when her term ends.
“Janelle’s familiarity with our community and her extensive leadership background makes her a strong asset to our organization,” Columbus Zoo President and CEO Tom Stalf said in a prepared statement.
Coleman has worked for L Brands, which operates Victoria’s Secret, Bath and Body Works and Pink, since 2007 and currently works as president of the L Brands Foundation and vice president of community relations for L Brands Inc.
Coleman earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from OU. She also was named as one of the First Forty Under 40 by the Columbus Business First and given The Network Journal’s 40 Under Forty Award.
