The Athens Police Department took a report of rape Wednesday.
The 19-year-old woman reported she was a victim of rape on the city’s south end by a known suspect. According to the report, the incident occurred in January.
The matter is currently under investigation, and no further information will be released at this time.
APD has received four reports of sexual assault — two rape reports, a gross sexual imposition report and one sexual assault report — since Jan. 13. The Ohio University Police Department has received two reports of rape since Jan. 13.
