Two people were injured and five vehicles were damaged in a crash on E. Union Street Thursday near Schoonover Center at about 11 a.m.
A vehicle was traveling eastbound on Union Street, went left of center and hit a parked motorcycle near the College Book Store, according to the news release from the Athens Police Department.
The vehicle continued eastbound, jumping the curb and hitting a pedestrian on the sidewalk. Then, the vehicle hit another packed car, damaging two additional vehicles.
The pedestrian, a 19-year-old Ohio University student, and the driver, a 57-year-old woman from Athens, were transported to OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital due to crash injuries.
The roadway was reopened at about 12 p.m. The victim’s names and conditions are not being release due to the ongoing investigation, according to the release.
