TV Review: Did Catherine survive her surgery on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’?

Catherine Fox (Debbie Allen) will live to be in another episode of Grey’s Anatomy.

The confident, sassy surgeon underwent surgery to remove the enormous tumor on her spine, and with the help of Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) and Tom Koracick (Greg Germann), 95 percent of the cancer was removed.

“I can live with this for years,” Catherine said. “You two have given me my life back.”

The episode was filled with a lot of emotion. Fans of the show had to watch Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) and Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) grapple with the fact they could lose someone they love. They all shared touching moments with her, but the best was when the whole surgery team danced to Diana Ross’ “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”

The episode wasn’t without a death, though. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) visited her dying father, Thatcher Grey (Jeff Perry). As previously hinted, he didn’t make it through the episode. It had been a long time since Meredith had talked to Thatch. They didn’t have a strong relationship, especially after the death of her stepmom and sister Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh).

Though fans hadn’t seen Thatch in a long time, audiences still took the death hard. Meredith has lost a lot of loved ones in her life, and it’s always tough to see another one of her family members die. Luckily Meredith has two men to console her now

Here’s how fans reacted to the emotional episode on Twitter:
