5 anticipated movies coming to the big screen in March

It’s hard to believe March is already here, but on the bright side, some of the year’s most anticipated movies are finally here. It seems like March will be bringing a mixed bag of movie genres that will be sure to evoke all kinds of emotions from you. Here are five movies you should look forward to seeing this upcoming month:

Greta (March 1)

A young, naive girl named Frances (Chloë Grace Moretz) finds a purse on the subway and goes out of her way to return it to its owner, Greta (Isabelle Huppert), a lonely piano teacher who loves classical music. The two create a close bond until Frances discovers a cabinet filled with several purses identical to the one she found on the subway. It turns out Greta is a psychopath with disturbing secrets that Frances begins to uncover. This thriller will be sure to keep you invested, uncovering Greta’s past alongside Frances, whether you wanted to or not.

Captain Marvel (March 8)

After seeing Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel Cinematic Universe fans were itching for Captain Marvel to be released — and the time is finally here. Captain Marvel is another movie closer to Avengers: End Game, but a vital part of the MCU to watch nonetheless. The origin story of Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) will be revealed to audiences, and all will see how she became the powerful superhero she is. Is she the one who will defeat Thanos once and for all? That’s up to audiences to decide after going and seeing the movie.

I’m Not Here (March 8)

If you’re looking for a tear-jerker, I’m Not Here seems like the movie perfect for that. The film originally premiered at the Raindance Film Festival in 2017 but is being released to theaters this month. Big names like J.K. Simmons and Mandy Moore will be playing lead roles in the upcoming drama. Steve (J.K. Simmons), an aging and lonely man, contemplates a life full of loss and mistakes that got him to where he is now. As he relives every significant memory of his life, he begins to understand what went wrong and tries to move past all his pain and regret to hopefully forgive himself. It looks like an emotional roller coaster audiences better be ready to strap themselves in for.

Us (March 22)

A psychological horror-thriller you won’t want to miss, Us hits theaters toward the end of the month. Jordan Peele hit it out of the park with Get Out, so audiences can expect a film just as good, if not better. Us involves Gabe (Winston Duke) and Adelaide Wilson (Lupita Nyong'o) taking their family on a vacation to a beach house. Once there, a group of identical-looking strangers show up and things go awry. The film is sure to have audiences doing double takes in their seats trying to figure out who the real members of the family are and who are not.

Dumbo (March 29)

If you’re looking for a movie to recover from Us, try out Disney’s live-action Dumbo, which is set to be released at the end of March. The movie is directed by Tim Burton and features big names like Danny DeVito, Colin Farrell and Michael Keaton leading the cast. Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) is put in charge of looking over a baby elephant with abnormally large ears — but when Farrier’s children find out the elephant can fly, a persuasive entrepreneur looks to exploit Dumbo. Live-action Disney movies have become more common at the box office lately. Movies like Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book have shown what Disney classics can look like with a bit of movie magic, and it seems Dumbo will be no exception.
