With the amount of bars Athens has packed into just a few blocks, there are many options on where to go to grab a drink or a few. Everyone’s weeks are different, but people still make time to hit up their favorite bar specials. Here is a week of bar deals in Athens explained with emojis:
Sunday
Red Brick Tavern, 14 N. Court St., runs its Brick Break special all day on Sundays, so there’s no need to worry about Sunday scaries here. Red Brick on Sundays is great for some “hair of the dog” after a long Saturday night of partying. The super cheap drinks are a plus, too.
Monday
It may only be the first day of the week, but we all deserve a nice margarita at the end of the day. The Pub, 39 N. Court St., has a special for Margarita Monday with margaritas costing only $2. A margarita that cheap is a very warranted reason to pull out your wallet for alcohol on a Monday.
Tuesday
The Pigskin Bar and Grille, 38 N. Court St., has some great burgers to choose from and a little something for everyone. With its Burger Tuesday special, you don’t feel bad for ignoring the food in your fridge and eating out while grabbing a drink.
Wednesday
Wednesday is one of the best days because it is Slice Night at Courtside Pizza, 85 N. Court St.. No one can complain about a gooey piece of cheese pizza for 50 cents. After filling up on cheap pizza, hitting up the Smiling Skull Saloon, 108 W. Union St., to belt out some tunes at Karaoke Night is a great way to have a simply fun night.
Thursday
With one day left to get through before the weekend, a pick-me-up is justifiable. Broneys Alumni Grill, 7 W. Carpenter St., has Blue Moon drafts for $2 so you can be refreshed for the last day of the week and save a few bucks.
Friday
Grab as many cheese sticks as you want at Lucky’s Sports Tavern, 11 N. Court St., because they are super cheap — only 50 cents a piece. Many of us chow down on one too many snacks before heading out for the night anyways. Once a month, Casa Nueva, 6 W. State St., blesses us with an ‘80s Dance Night. Everyone loves to dance the night away while sipping on some signature margaritas.
Saturday
Though Power Hour at Jackie O’s Public House and Brewpub, 22-24 W. Union St., happens every night, it’s a great place to start a Saturday night. From 7 to 8 p.m, it’s like a pregame for the bars, but at a bar. Drinking good beer and not Natural Light is also a bonus.
