Student Trustees Faith Voinovich and Austin McClain led a discussion about what Student Senate members are to be mentioned during Ohio University Board of Trustees presentations on Thursday and Friday.
In their role as student trustees, Voinovich and McClain will be at all the presentations during the Board of Trustees meeting. They act as a voice for students on issues they think students have expressed concern about or that students could possibly disagree with.
“We act as a liaison so just that (the board members) can understand where the student voice is on it whether the action is that way or not they at least have that perspective going in,” Voinovich said.
Student Senate members asked student trustees to keep in mind the potential increase in tuition, enrollment updates, data privacy and initiatives in transparency in the upcoming Board of Trustees meetings.
Student Senate President Maddie Sloat said Senate will be presenting to the Board of Trustees on Friday morning. The presentation will focus on the constitutional changes made in June that had been discussed with the Chair of the Governance Committee Victor Goodman.
Members also passed two resolutions to appoint senators to Student Senate.
Mallory Goloski was appointed to serve as the sorority and fraternity life senator on University Life Commission, and Lillian Mattimoe was appointed as a senator to the Committee for the Budget.
