Ohio returns to the friendly confines of The Convo on Tuesday night against Kent State after picking up its first win of Mid-American Conference play Saturday at Ball State. The win was highlighted by a Doug Taylor one-hand slam, which ended up on SportsCenter’s Top Ten Plays segment. The 70-52 win gave the Bobcats their first win in almost a month and got them out of an 0-2 start to MAC play.

The series
Ohio leads the all-time series versus the Golden Flashes, 94-50. The Bobcats won the last meeting between the two teams last February 88-76 at The Convo. As a MAC East rival, Ohio plays Kent State twice a year. In the 2017 MAC Tournament in Cleveland the Golden Flashes snuck by the Bobcats in the semifinals. Kent State has taken three of the last five matchups by a margin of 10 points.
Coach Saul Phillips is 3-4 all-time against Kent State coach Rob Senderoff. Senderoff is the program’s all-time wins leader.
Key player to watch
Jaylin Walker — The senior has given Ohio fits throughout his career with the Golden Flashes. A player who seems like he’s played at Kent for 10 seasons, he’s a player who can stretch the floor and knock down a shot from anywhere on the court. A true threat, Walker is third in program history in three-point field goals made (227) and second in three-point field goals attempted (645). He’s had 26 20-point games in his career.
