Donkey Coffee is giving free coffee to government employees during the shutdown; faculty members and students honored Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday

Today is Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019. Here’s what you need to know:

Good morning, 

As the government shutdown continues and many federal employees work without pay, an Athens coffee shop is taking steps to brighten their days. 

Donkey Coffee and Espresso, 17 W. Washington St., is giving government workers a free drink for the duration of the shutdown. To receive a drink, employees need to come in with a federal ID and show it to the cashier.
