The Athens Police Department arrested a man for rape and abduction Wednesday.
Mohammed Al-Mashrafi Nasser, 23, of Athens, was arrested by APD after an investigation. He was charged with rape, a felony of the first degree, and abduction, a felony of the third degree.
APD received a report of sexual assault that occurred in the uptown area at about 5 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the media release.
Nasser was transported to Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail. He appeared in Athens Municipal Court on Thursday. The case is currently under investigation, and no other information will be released at this time.
