The Athens Police Department responded to a call at 221 W. Washington Street Apt. 202 for a report of a shooting Sunday at about 10 a.m.
A 55-year-old man was found at the apartment with a fatal gunshot wound. No more information will be released until the family is notified.
APD received assistance at the scene from the Ohio University Police Department, Athens County Sheriff’s Office, Athens County Emergency Medical Services, the Athens County Coroner’s Office, and the Ohio Attorney General’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
APD is continuing to investigate this incident.
